A storm

A rapidly disappearing lightning storm. These are un-photoshopped, but I'm thinking about playing around with them.

Oh, the geekery!

Alec recently was given the board game Arkham Horror as a late Christmas present, and let me tell you, it is pretty freaking cool! :o) It's based off the dark and monster-filed novels by H.P. Lovecraft, and features the locations, monsters, characters and ancient ones (Of course, Cthulu is included) of the books. I haven't read them, but Alec has, and it was quite amusing to see him geek all over himself. Regardless, this is one of the better board games I have played, and I highly recommend it to anyone who values the intelligence and creativity that goes into such games.

Alec's dice are making him sad.

In other news, the stomach bugs are going around school again. Vomiting about every hour for 12 hours isn't much fun! ;o)

She's a wild one, that child. Trying to stay awake all night when her girlfriends are sleeping over, inventing new ways to push each other to the limit of exhaustion. Pillow fights, scary stories, pixi sticks, late night peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, giggles... lots of giggles. Her mother shushes them, finger to her lips, and tries to be stern. She urges them to go to bed, because she knows what that child will be like in the morning. But she doesn't push. She remembers what it was like to be ten; she remembers the giddy rush of trying to accomplish something "so grown up" as staying awake all night. She'll go check on them in a few hours, and she'll put them to bed when their sugar highs finally crash.

She's always refusing to eat her vegetables, and doesn't want to do her homework. *shakes her head* Typical girl-child. She has a will of iron and thinks she can do anything she sets her mind to. She doesn't mind the clothes her mother buys her, but relishes the looks of amused bewilderment when she wears mis-matched socks and clashing colors. She is her own self, and will not be labeled with the crowds.

She makes her mother throw her hands up in exasperation, but she has an embrace that will always warm the heart. She tries so hard to be grown up, but there's no denying the sweet glow of innocence when she's asleep in your arms. "She's a good girl," her mama says. "She's still my little girl, who needs a cuddle when she's had a bad dream."

She's a wild child, and I can see her.
